Here in the Ozarks we are lucky to have some of the most beautiful waters in the country to paddle and some of the best local breweries as well. We were honored to have been contacted by the folks at Springfield Brewing Company when they seen our name and had a little laugh. Yes, we are a play on a swear word but we make swearing fun "and you can't get in trouble because it's spelled different". On a serious note, they really liked how we are all about reclaiming old broken and forgotten canoes and giving them new life. It just so happens that our first Schitty Canoe was Blue "The OG". It literally was a match made on the river. Just like Schitty Canoe Company, Springfield Brewing Co is all about preserving our beautiful rivers and lakes and streams and with every 6 pack of Blue Canoe American Pale Ale purchased they give back a percentage to the James River Basin Partnership, an organization dedicated to keeping our waterways clean.
A staple of the downtown community, Springfield Brewing Company has been in the business of brewing one of a kind, supremely drinkable beers since 1997. Our story really started when the Paul Mueller Company purchased the building, creating a beautiful showcase for their one of a kind stainless steel brewery tanks and changing the landscape of downtown. Their goal was to provide our community with a one of a kind brewpub experience combining local craft beer with great food.
A group of close friends and beer lovers got together and purchased the Brew Co. in 2011 it was their mission to continue creating award winning craft brews and working to perfect the menu. Our restaurant takes pride in operating as a scratch kitchen, bringing together fresh and often locally sourced ingredients to create one of a kind dishes.
Our brewery focuses on creative and tradition English, German and American style ales and lagers. Over the years we’ve been the proud recipients of Great American Beer Festival awards for many of our beers. Our aim is to continue working toward a harmonious balance between food and beer and we think we’re doing a darn good job! So stop in, grab something to eat and try one of our beers fresh on tap! ~ Springfield Brewing "About" Page credit.
The Schitty Bus will be stopping by the brewery and The Celler randomly during the week, "yes, with a blue canoe in tow". We will also post a photo of the bus on social media. If anyone comments within 30 minutes from the bar needing a ride home we will take you home safely free of charge "within Springfield City Limits". While we support Local Breweries, we also support drinking resposibly.
